All aboard the Poetry Bus...it's Poetry Monday courtesy of Totalfeckineejit at http://totalfeckineejit.blogspot.com/ Pick your photo from those supplied and write a poem. I've chosen the old guy in the middle, green bag.(click to enlarge). Oh God Mum, she said
They found Grandpa
Trying to rob the High Street Bank
With Josh's toy gun
In the Coles bag.

Was there a balaklava...mask? I gasped.
He thought, she sighs, Nan's sunglasses
Would do the trick.
What's worse, she said
Was his excuse.
I need the money
For the fare to Denmark
To see Princess Mary.
Now that Frederick's here
In Sydney
For the Masters Games
I reckon I'm in with a chance.

Reaching for the car keys
I know
It will be another long day.

Wonderful poem - and what a great idea! We've just had National Poetry Day and it was great going round reading everyone's contributions. Now I will put my thinking cap on - as all deadlines have been met - and try for that lonely seagull looking for a place to rest.

Wonderful! And such a good idea too, challenging everyone to have a go... at which point my mind goes blanker than blank....

Brilliant poem Pam.
And I would guess based on experiences that you'd rather not face with your Dad, as life gets tougher for him.

Nicely worked Pam, yer man in the phot sure looks like he's some kind of desperado trying to get away(in fact he was darting into mass!!!)This funny poem made me smile. The opening stanza is my favourite..
' They found Grandpa
Trying to rob the High Street Bank
With Josh's toy gun
In the Coles bag.'

Lovely - I love it - hope there is no vestige of truth in it though.

Loved this! The humour, of course, the sheer unexpectedness of it and the deftness of the lines:
"He thought, she sighs, Nan's sunglasses
Would do the trick."

for just one example.
Really cheering, thanks.

Nice one! Very funny, and I like the sense of a world beyond the poem.

(Sorry: I deleted the previous comment on account of a typo).

Send this to Elvis Costello so he can sing it!

...ah,y'all too kind! While the old guy has been raiding his wife's sunglasses, I'm wondering how many celebrities there'll be in sunnies at Willow's ball. The dress is ready, the shoes, the jewellery - just as well I didn't have to rob a bank to pay for it.
