Isn't it funny that you can be taking a country trip on one side of the world, and someone is taking something remarkably similar on the other side, posting about it too. When Annie's post corresponded so closely to mine, it was time to enjoy these together I thought. Her wonderful blog is at In My Dreams http://inmidreamz.blogspot.com/. It takes me a while to get around to these things, so you will have to scroll back to Annie's post of Friday April 17th. to enjoy the rest of her great pictures and interesting trip. So without delay...!
Annie's country scenery from Horritos U.S.A. Nice and green...Let's step a long way back, look for the little homestead in the background, transfer this scene of quiet country life to drought-stricken Willmington South Australia, with dusty ute for good measure in the foreground...

Next...add a simple white building against the bluest of skies. Anne chose a church...

Mine? A shop. I don't think there will be hoardes of children crossing that road anytime soom.
Next...the ghost town cottages in disrepair...

Anne's...

Mine...Aussie-style...take notice of the glass window centre right, you'll see it again in a minute...and the garage? All part of the business that follows...

There's the window, in the days when Roemer & Flugge had a thriving Motor Engineering business...long,long ago.

When Annie looked over a fence in Horritos, what did she see?Taking a peek here, I was not disappointed either...
Later, I'll post some photos from Melrose, the next town on. One of the oldest in the State. Thank you Annie. I love these towns.

great post. I agree - it is amazing that people are blogging about the same things the world over. Doesn't it make the world just seem a lot smaller? Love all the pictures - makes me want to go out and do the same post here in sunny Yorkshire ... the skies are just blue enough today!

Pam, this was thrilling. Gave me chills seeing how our separate adventures blended so perfectly. You know - you just can't plan things like this happening. What a treat.

I'm loving my virtual tour. More please. I try to read it with what I imagine your Aussie accent to sound like to my New England ears.

Synchronicity abounds in blogland doesn't it. And it is a joy when it does, it makes our connections so much more personal somehow.

What super comparisons. I agree with you it is amazing how we can send these messages across the world in next to no time and how similar our experiences may be.
That drought looks absolutely awful.

What a great string of photos. As Ruth said a virtual tour and one that I very much enjoyed.

Your question regarding our red clay cliffs and possible ceramics, pottery or other artisan uses of this unique soil has me initially stumped. As far as I know it's not used for pottery however Prince Edward Island (across the Strait from us) and also known for the red clay soil has a unique company making red clay dirt shirts

So interesting, they're the same yet different. I have a few bloggers on the east coast of the US and it's such an alien landscape yet some places are exactly the same. I watch American movies and think that could be somewhere here . . sometimes I think we're more American than British . .odd given our history. Great stuff Pam. (ooh Willow's looking a little spooky)

Synchronicity links us in many ways, Pam. This was an excellant example, and super photos of both places.
